Welcome to CIPS

WELCOME TO CIPS

The Centre for International Peace & Stability (CIPS) was established in February 2013 in NUST H12 Campus. It is the only University based institution teaching peacekeeping to scholars and practitioners. It has the unique honour of being visited twice by UN Secretary Generals. Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon formally inaugurated it on 13 August 2013 and Secretary General António Guterres elevated it to the status of a regional hub for peacekeeping training in February 2020. Other high profile visitors have included the President of the UN General Assembly Maria Fernanda Espinosa, the Under Secretary General of the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations (UNDPKO) Herves Ledsous and former president of Timor Liste Jose Ramos-Horta, in his position as the head of a high level delegation representing the UN Secretary General .

An experienced faculty keeps the curricula in line with the latest trends in peacekeeping, peacebuilding and conflict resolution. CIPS has strong linkages with civil and military decision making circles, UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations (UNDPKO), New York, international peacekeeping institutes, foreign and local universities and think tanks.

We are proud of the fact that CIPS is showcased by the Government of Pakistan and NUST as the premier institution teaching peacekeeping to Pakistani and foreign students. Therefore it is often included in the visit programs of high level foreign and local dignitaries.
