UN Military Observers Course (UNMOC) – 13
A United Nations Certified Military Observer Officer Course serial 13 was run at Peacekeeping Training Department, CIPS from 26 Sep to 07 October 2016. This course had twenty four participants which included thirteen Pakistani Armed Forces and Eleven Foreign participants. Foreign participants were from Sri Lanka, Nigeria, Egypt, Malaysia, Nepal and Thailand. For the first time foreign participants included two female officers from Thailand and Nigeria. Also for the first time an Instructor from Malaysia also came as part of the faculty on the basis of mutual exchange.
The participants went through the learning process which included all the four UN modules including Core Pre deployment Training and Specialized Military Training. Besides PKT department Faculty members, the lectures/ discussions were given by multifaceted experts/ Guest Speakers which included members from UN Agencies, Senior Armed Forces Officers, UN Mission Experts, officers from Military Operations Directorate, GHQ and few others. A two day situation based scenario oriented CARANA exercise was also conducted which gave lot of practical experience to the participants.
Foreign students were administratively looked after well. They were taken around Islamabad as well as Murree, a nearby hill resort for site seeing, shopping and excursion. On the second last day, a farewell dinner was hosted at a nearby restaurant. The course ended with a formal closing ceremony which was attended by reps of UN organizations, many Defence Attaches and others. A UN Integrated certified Certificates were awarded by the Lieutenant General Tahir Mehmood Qazi (Retd)
