Seminars and Workshops CIPS Commemorates UN International Women’s Day 2022

On 8th March 2022, the Department of UN Peacekeeping Training (UN-PKT), CIPS, hosted a session commemorating the title event. Panelists for the session included the UN Women Country Ms. Sharmeela Rasool; Senior Advisor to UN Women Huma Chughtai; and the Dean of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities (S3H), NUST, Dr. Salma Parveen Siddiqui. Two serving Pakistani female peacekeepers, stationed in the Congo and Sudan respectively, also addressed the gathering via video link. The session focused on the PKT Department’s consistent and proactive efforts at enhancing female participation in all aspects of Peacekeeping, through such pioneering initiatives as the launch of standalone courses for training ‘Female Engagement Teams.’ The gathering commemorated the service, and potential, of Pakistan’s female officers in taking on challenging and complex PKOs, establishing a tradition of dedicated service alongside their peers.
