The 3rd International Conference on Business, Management & Social Sciences (ICBMASS-2023) was held on 14-15 March 2023. The conference was jointly organized by the Centre for International Peace and Stability (CIPS), School of Social Sciences and Humanities (S3H), and NUST Business School (NBS). The theme of the conference was ‘Non-Traditional Security Threats’.
The conference featured distinguished speakers, such as Professor Dr. Ijaz Shafi Gilani (Chairman Gallup Pakistan), Lt Gen Zubair Mehmood Hayat HI (M) NI (M) (Retd), and Prof. Przemyslaw Osiewicz (Adam Mickiewicz University Poznan, Poland). Dr. Bakare Najimdeen (Head of Research, CIPS) Chaired the conference. ICBMASS is a flagship conference, sponsored by NUST Research Dte/RIC.
ICBMASS-2023 brought together scholars to deliberate on pressing issues related to Non-Traditional Security challenges including cybersecurity, climate change, food and environmental security, and economic and health security. The conference facilitated productive discussions and provided valuable insights that can aid in addressing these challenges for ensuring a sustainable future.
During the closing remarks, Maj Gen Salim Raza (Principal NIPCONS) and Professor Dr Ashfaque Hasan Khan (Principal S3H) highlighted the significance of recognizing the intricate and evolving dynamics of Non-Traditional Security threats. They emphasized the need for sustained attention and cooperation at both national and international levels to tackle such challenges effectively. In particular, Professor Dr Salma Siddique (Dean S3H) appreciated the multidisciplinary nature of the conference and underscored the importance of adopting a comprehensive and integrated approach to address the challenges associated with the Non-Traditional Security threats.
