In the multi-faceted landscape of academia, the ability to communicate ideas and insights effectively is supreme. Academic writing serves as the base of scholarly community and it provides a means to not only disseminate knowledge, engage in critical discourse, but also contribute to the collective understanding of our world. Academic writing plays a pivotal role in the academia and research, and hence in this initiative we are delighted to present this concept note for an Academic Writing Workshop, to be proudly hosted by the esteemed institution, the Center for International Peace and Stability (CIPS) in the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST). Center for International Peace and Stability (CIPS) has long stood as pillar of academic excellence. It has consistently produced high-quality research and is committed to the pursuit of excellence. CIPS has nurtured a culture of rigorous inquiry, innovation, and intellectual curiosity since its establishment. It is owing to this staunch commitment towards quality research that we are promoting Academic Writing Workshop. This workshop is designed in a way to offer guidance and creating a conducive environment for nurturing and honing the academic writing craft. The scholarly success lies in the richness of ideas but more so in the skill of articulating ideas in a strong, comprehensible, and convincing manner. This journey from a novice to proficient academic writing can be a challenging one which requires guidance and practice. So, through a carefully curated program, this workshop aims to equip participants with the tools and strategies needed to surpass in their academic writing.
Workshop Objectives
This two-day workshop is designed to equip the participants with the necessary skills and knowledge for professional academic writing. The objectives are:
3. Teach participants the importance of logical organization and flow and how to structure academic papers, research articles, and essays.
4. Equip participants with the skills to conduct review of literature, synthesize research, and critically integrate it into writing along with proper citation and referencing techniques.
5. Offer understanding into the academic publishing process, Journal selection, submission, and review.
6. Facilitate networking and collaboration
