UN Military Observers Course (UNMOC) – 31
UN Certified Course
Gen.
UN Military Observers Course – 31 was conducted by the Department of Peacekeeping and Training (PKT) at the Centre for International Peace & Stability (CIPS). The course commenced on September 05th, 2022, and successfully concluded on September 16th, 2022.
Participants.
Seven officers of the Pakistan Army and six officers from friendly countries attended the course. The foreign participants were from Belarus, Egypt, Jordan, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, and Tunisia.
Objectives.
The participants went through there tier of training which included; Core Pre-deployment Training Materials (CPTM), Specialized Training Material (STM) and in-mission training. Military Observers from important missions briefed participants on a mission environment, mandate, and specific role/assignment of military observers for a more contextualized understanding of their areas of deployment.
Extra-Curricular activities.
The foreign participants visited the Pakistan monument, Lok Virsa, Pakistan Gallery – Army School of Logistic (ASL), and Chinar Golf Club Murree. A farewell dinner arranged at the Hill Resort on the outskirts of Islamabad.
Closing Ceremony.
Ambassador of Jordan H.E. Ibrahim Almadani was the chief guest of the closing ceremony on September 16th, 2022. Defense Attachés’ of Azerbaijan, Jordan, and Kazakhstan also graced the occasion. In the closing remarks, H.E. Ibrahim Almadani appreciated the efforts of Pakistan and CIPS for global peace and stability. He also extended his best wishes to all the course participants for their assignments in different peacekeeping missions. He also suggested that Jordan and Pakistan’s Peacekeeping Training Department/Centre can sign an MoU for mutual cooperation in peacekeeping training. H.E. was then requested to distribute the certificates to the successful participants. At the end of the ceremony, Principal NIPCONS presented CIPS shields to all the dignitaries along with copies of CIPS Journal and Magazine.
