Partnership between CIPS-NUST and Intelligence Bureau Academy

We are pleased to announce the signing of an “Agreement of Cooperation”  between CIPS-NUST and the IB Academy. The agreement signifies a pivotal step towards fostering collaboration and enhancing our collective capabilities in crucial domains. Maj Gen (R) Aftab Khan (Principal NIPCONS) and Commandant IB Academy (Qazi Jamil) officially inked the Agreement, solidifying our commitment to the exchange of resource persons for specialized training in counter-terrorism, national security, information security, etc. Additionally, both the esteemed institutions are set to embark on a joint research program that will undoubtedly contribute significantly to our shared mission. Together, we look forward to achieving new milestones and reinforcing our roles as key contributors to national security.

The signing of the General Agreement of Cooperation between CIPS, NUST, and PCRC, Fatima Jinnah University

On 3rd August 2022, a ‘General Agreement of Cooperation (GAC) was signed between the Centre for International Peace and Stability (CIPS), National University of Science and Technology (NUST) and the Peace and Conflict Resolution Centre (PCRC) of Fatima Jinnah Women University. Both the Centres agreed on establishing a formal mechanism for enhancing academic and research cooperation and promoting sustainable and meaningful collaboration. The GAC was signed by Professor Tughral Yamin, Associate Dean CIPS and Dr Ch. Shoaib Akhter, Director ORIC (FJWU). Dr Humaira Shafi from CIPS and Dr Saima Ashraf Kayani from FJWU was appointed as focal persons.

MOU with AIOU

1.    A NUST team comprising Prof Dr Tughral, Engr Nasir Mahmood and Nazia Khalid (both from SEECS), and Lab Engr Sheraz Khaliq visited AIOU on Wednesday 22 June 2022 to find out areas of mutual collaboration in organizing and running CIPS DL program. At the end of an extensive briefing and visit of their facilities, a number of areas of collaboration were identified such as:

a. Content and curriculum development.

b. Capacity building of professors.

c. Use of studios.

d. TV broadcast facilities.

e. Designing course curriculum.

f. Online registration.

g. Examinations etc.

2. In order to actualize this collaboration, it is suggested that an MOU be concluded between AIOU and CIPS. This will indeed prove beneficial for the proposed  CIPS MS PCS DL program, which is scheduled to commence in Fall 2023 In Shaa Allah.

 

3. A meeting can be held to formalize the text of the draft at a mutually convenient date.

CIPS and Institute for Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) MOU Signed

Centre for International Peace & Stability (CIPS) and Institute for Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI), signed an agreement for cooperation on 06th April 2022. The agreement was signed by Principal NIPCONS, Maj Gen Muhammad Salim Raza (R), and Director General ISSI, Ambassador Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry at a ceremony held at the CIPS, NUST Main Campus.
The purpose of the cooperation between the CIPS and ISSI is to enhance academic and research cooperation concerning regional and global strategic issues, affecting international peace and security.  

NUST Centre for International Peace and Stability (CIPS) Inks Agreement with UN Women Pakistan for Gender Equality and Women Empowerment

NUST Centre for International Peace and Stability (CIPS) Inks Agreement with UN Women Pakistan for Gender Equality and Women Empowerment in Peacekeeping

NUST Centre for International Peace and Stability (CIPS) and UN Women Pakistan, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on June 24, 2022. The agreement was signed by Principal NIPCONS Muhammad Salim Raza HI (M) (Retd) and UN Women Country Head Ms. Sharmeela Rasool.

The UN Women Department and the CIPS-NUST have agreed to work together on advancing gender-responsive peacekeeping operations. The collaboration is also a step towards achieving the agenda of UNSC Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security. The broader aim is to build a conducive environment for collaboration and integration of CIPS training pursuits with UN agencies in the area of peace building and peacekeeping.

In her concluding remarks, Ms. Sharmeela Rasool applauded the efforts of CIPS as the global ambassador of Pakistan. She further highlighted the achievement of CIPS in making Pakistan the first country to achieve the goal of deployment of 15% female staff officers as nearly 450 women have served in UN missions. She reaffirmed that this MoU will strengthen organizational collaboration in integrating gender perspectives in peace processes and operations.
