-

The Rwandan delegation, comprising Col (Retd) Jill Rutaremara, Col Berna Kayirangwa, and Lt Col Shyaka Kajugiro (Defence Attaché), visited the Centre for International Peace and Stability (CIPS) from 26–28 August 2025. During their visit, the delegation was briefed on Pakistan’s significant contributions to global peace, CIPS’s role as a regional hub of excellence in peacekeeping training, and its unique hybrid model that integrates Peace and Conflict Studies (PCS) with Peacekeeping Training (PKT). The delegation also experienced CIPS’s innovative use of Virtual Reality (VR) in training.

In a meeting with Principal NIPCONS, Maj Gen Zahid Hussain (Retd), both sides discussed avenues to strengthen bilateral cooperation in peacekeeping training. The Principal highlighted Pakistan’s longstanding commitment to UN Peacekeeping as one of the largest troop-contributing countries and underscored the importance of exchange programs for instructors and students. The Rwandan delegation appreciated Pakistan’s efforts and lauded CIPS’s contribution towards advancing global peace, with a special invitation extended for their participation in the upcoming UNMOC-44 course in October 2025.
